Selous game reserve

Savannah Explorers

One of the most famous parks in Africa

As this park is bigger the country of Switzerland, you can spot a lot of elephants, hippopotamuses, wild dogs and crocodiles in the Selous Game Reserve. You cannot miss a sunset boat safari on Rufiji River.

Description

With its vast panorama encompassing over four times the size of the Serengeti, the Selous Game Reserve is the largest of its kind in Africa. It boasts natural wonders, such as warm volcanic springs to periodic pools to outlets from the Great Ruaha River and Rufiji River. With over 2,000 plants species and 350 bird species to observe, you can explore on foot with an armed ranger.
Due to its vast terrain, the Selous Game Reserve is home to many animals, such as elephants, hippopotamuses, rhinoceroses (who are now so endangered), buffaloes (the biggest population in Africa), wildebeests, hartebeests, greater kudus, sable antelopes, elands, reedbucks, bushbucks, waterbucks, warthogs, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, hunting dogs, cheetahs (though rare), crocodiles, snakes and lizards.
